and so i thought staying out of touch is good...

I posted this on my Notes page on FB.. thought of posting here since I have not been diligently updating it:\ hahaha:p

I know this is pretty random but I was just flipping through the finance news over at yahoo and google because I figured I was too out of the touch with the world around me (having no TV and no newspapers at home:\ talk about being a Communications major:\) and to my horror I saw all these headlines:

‘Jobs To Go On Long Leave’

‘Asian Shares Hit 5-wk Low’

‘S’pore Nov Retail Sales Fall’

‘A leading Indonesian business association warned yesterday that about 500,000 people will lose their jobs in the country this year due to the global financial crisis…’

‘US banking crisis deepens’

‘Oil prices fell to near $36 (S$53.9) a barrel…’

‘Barnes and Noble to cut 100 Jobs’

‘The chief executive of US bank JPMorgan Chase, Jamie Dimon, told the Financial Times on Thursday that the worst of the economic crisis still lay ahead as hard-hit consumers default on their loans.’

I know I know, people around have been saying how bad the economy is and blahblahblah but then I didn’t feel the sinking feeling so much as I am feeling when I read it for myself! AH SHIT! I didn’t know that it was THIS bad!?! ): I was still worried about not getting modules in CORs and all (which is also important btw) BUT THIS is just D.E.P.R.E.S.S.I.N.G.

That day, there was this radio broadcast and they were interviewing two undergraduates about what were their plans for their financial future and their views on the current financial crisis. Now I know what they mean when one of them said that they don’t really feel the dreadful pull of the financial crisis as much as those already working because we (those who are still studying) are so immersed in our books to even realize the dire environment out there.

OMG! Am I even sure, guarantee plus chop that I will get a job after spending like $12000++ per semester sheltered in study life? Of course I don’t feel the pain because my tuition fees are heavily subsidized by tuition grant and loan BUT after we graduate (for me, in 3 semesters), THEY WILL START COUNTING INTEREST FOR THE LOAN:\ and I DON’T EVEN KNOW HOW MUCH I OWE THE BANK!?!?!?!?!

Maybe I should go and do THIS. It's my mum’s business anyway and she pretty much doing well in it since she can use this to support a family of six. She says anyone can do it so try lor…. Sighhhhhhh~

This is so ironic but back to interactive media readings. ACK! more on this later!
